Cowrie shells

Mẹ́rìndínlógún or Ẹẹ́rìndínlógún, a base 16 numerical system, is a Yoruba cowrie-shell divination based on sixteen cowries. A cowie shell is a bat quarter coin so that Mẹ́rìndínlógún is $4. Each cowrie shell is 69, such that the sixteen cowries are sixteen Rubik’s Cubes.

Traditional Yorubas are Pythagoreans worshiping numbers. In Pythagoreanism, the ten decimals are arranged into an equilateral triangle called Tetractys.

Bless us, divine number, thou who generated gods and men! O holy, holy Tetractys.

Pythagorean prayer

A cowry shell has two sides: slit side or open and smooth side or closed. The slit side is broken or yin and the smooth side is unbroken or yang. Yin is 6 and yang is 9, such that a cowry shell is 69.

Considering that 6 and 9 are the square faces and the small squares in a square face of Rubik’s Cube, a cowrie shell is Rubik’s Cube and the sixteen cowries are sixteen Rubik’s Cubes.

In Yoruba language, ogun is 20 and merin is 4. Mẹ́rìndínlógún means 20 minus 4.

Mẹ́rìndínlógún = 20 – 4
                              = 16

Ifa is 16.

Ifa = I + F + A
      = 9 + 6 + 1
      = 16 (Mẹ́rìndínlógún)

The difference between Mẹ́rìndínlógún and Ifa is that the sixteen cowries are sixteen binary numbers in Ifa and sixteen decimal numbers in Merindinlogun.

The sixteen binary numbers in Ifa are 0000, 0001, 0010, 0011, 0100, 0101, 0110, 0111, 1000, 1001, 1011, 1100, 1101, 1110 and 1111.

When converted from base 2 to base 10, the Ifa binary numbers are the base 16 numbers: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.

The two halves of the slit side are two intersecting equilateral triangles, and the smooth side is the hexagonal area of intersection. Which means that the smooth side is qi, the slit side is chi and cowrie-shell is life energy.

Slit side = Chi
               = 20

Smooth side = Qi
                        = 26

Cowrie-shell = Slit + Smooth
                        = Chi + Qi
                        = Life energy

A male Yoruba diviner is called Babalawo.

People visit Babalowos for two major reasons: money and medicine. Cowrie shell money was a legal tender in west Africa before modern currencies were introduced. Babalawo is called native doctor, herbalist or medicine man because cowrie shell is the life energy central to traditional medicine.

Sixteen cowries are life energy multiplied by 16. Each cowry shell is a website, such that the sixteen cowries are equal to sixteen websites. Also, a life is a human being and sixteen lives are sixteen people.

The slit side of a cowrie shell is 0 and the smooth side is 1, such that cyberspace is a cowry shell.

There is a local African belief that native doctors are capable of turning humans into money. In cyberspace, humans are money. The more visitors to a website, the more money acruable.
